Management Commitment Letter

Howard’s Foods Inc. is a condiment manufacturer in Burnaby, B.C.  Founded in 1993 to manufacture their own signature line of Salmon Marinade and BBQ sauce, the company has grown to become a co-packer of condiments and sauces for over 35 companies.  In 2017 the company moved to a larger facility (Unit 11-3771 North Fraser Way) to meet increasing demand for co-packing services.

This HACCP program has been prepared to meet the requirements of Fraser Health and the provincial premise requirements.    The company has a Safe Food for Canadian Regulations license.  The HACCP implementation is compliant to Codex principles and designed to meet the requirements of SQF Code 9.1.

This letter indicates our commitment to food safety.  We consider the development of a documented food safety and quality program an important goal towards our success as a leading copacker for the condiment and sauce industry.  We commit to providing adequate resources of both staff time and money to develop our food safety systems.

As part of our food safety program a detailed co-packer agreement has been developed that outlines each party’s responsibilities to our food safety program.  This includes supplier and ingredient approvals, allergen control and awareness protocols and ensuring labels are compliant to CFIA standards.

Our management commitment policy was expanded to meet the requirements of the SQF code specifically the increased reporting, attention to food safety culture and food defense.

We are excited about our growth and the opportunity to continue the development of a food safety culture at our processing facility.
